Jim Brown

Jim Brown- has served as publisher of The Daily Courier since March 1998 and has worked as a journalist for the past 42 years. He attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio and served three years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.

He worked at newspapers in Ohio, California and Florida before moving to Rutherford County in March 1998.

He is a member of the Foothills Connect Board of Directors, the Rutherford County Senior Center board, and is founder and president of Leadership Rutherford. He served on the Board of Directors of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce for seven years, including one year as its president.

He also served two years as chairman of the steering committee for Realize Rutherford, the county’s strategic vision group. He has also served on the board of Rutherford County Life Services and the Rutherford County Unit of the Salvation Army and the eRutherford committee.

He is a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton.

Brown lives in Forest City.
